Engineering Resin Molding

Home » Engineering Resin Molding

Industrial, medical, and other applications require plastic components that can withstand heat, chemicals, mechanical stress, and other demanding operating conditions. In these situations, engineering-grade thermoplastics can provide the performance that standard plastic materials cannot.

Meridian Products Corporation molds engineering-grade thermoplastic polymers to manufacturing specifications. Each part we provide complies with strict mechanical, thermal, and chemical performance requirements. Our team supports projects from material selection through production to make sure components suit their intended environment and operating conditions.

Industries and Applications Served

Meridian’s engineering resin molding capabilities support a range of industries where part performance is non-negotiable. These include the following:

Industry Representative Applications
Aerospace Drive train components, structural brackets
Automotive High-performance gears, under-hood housings
Lighting High-temperature lamp housings
Petroleum Valves, chemical-resistant fittings
Agriculture & Irrigation High-pressure irrigation valves

We also serve the electronics, medical, consumer, and aerospace & transportation sectors with resin components tailored to each client’s specific requirements.

High-Performance Resins

Some environments push standard materials to their limits. High heat, aggressive chemicals, steam sterilization, and continuous mechanical load all demand resins engineered specifically for those conditions.

Meridian Products works with different types of high-performance resins, such as:

  • Semi-crystalline resins. These include PEEK (polyetheretherketone) and PPS (polyphenylene sulfide). These materials are commonly selected for applications that require both thermal stability and chemical resistance, maintaining structural integrity at elevated temperatures where standard thermoplastics may soften or deform.
  • High-performance amorphous resins. Include PPSU (polyphenylsulfone) and polysulfone. These materials perform well in environments with repeated exposure to water and steam. Superior toughness and dimensional stability make them a reliable choice for medical devices or fluid-handling components.

Material selection for high-performance applications requires an evaluation of the operating environment. Temperature range, chemical exposure, load conditions, and regulatory requirements for flammability or biocompatibility can all play a role in the decision. Our engineering team works through these criteria with clients before a single part is molded to choose the optimal material for the given application.

Moderate-Performance Resins

Not every application requires PEEK or PPSU. Other engineering resins can provide dependable mechanical strength, chemical resistance, and cost efficiency in specific applications. Materials such as nylon and acetal are commonly used for automotive components, gears, fasteners, and housings. Strong resistance to oils, fuels, and solvents makes them well-suited for repetitive mechanical use.

Amorphous resins for moderate-performance applications resist warpage and maintain tight tolerances, making them a good choice for components that must fit and function reliably across changing temperatures. For optical components, such as lenses, light pipes, or indicator covers, clear polycarbonate remains the standard. Its clarity, toughness, and range of translucent grades make it a dependable option for these types of applications.

Partnering with Meridian Products Corporation

Engineering resin molding requires experience with material behavior, process discipline, and a quality system that catches problems before they reach the customer.

Here’s what working with Meridian Products brings to projects we work on:

  • Resin molding experience. Our resin molding history represents a range of projects across industries with demanding specifications.
  • Material expertise. We don’t hand clients a resin catalog and ask them to choose. We engage early in the process to understand the operating conditions and recommend materials that will perform, whether that’s PEEK for an aerospace application or polycarbonate for a precision optical component.
  • Engineering capabilities. Each mold is engineered to meet part geometry and performance requirements. Our team handles tooling and prototyping in-house, so the process is direct and well-controlled at each stage.
  • ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management. Our quality management system applies across all operations, following the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle and risk-based thinking for reliable quality and performance.

Elevate Your Project with Precision Engineering

If you’re designing a new component or improving the performance of an existing part, Meridian Products Corporation has the experience and capabilities to help. We work with clients across industries to specify the right resin, engineer the right mold, and deliver parts that hold up under real-world conditions.
